Mitch Sturman Mitch Sturman is a graduate of the Philadelphia Public Schools, where he was fortunate enough to have studied under the prominent American composer Elliot Del Borgo. He continued his studies at Temple University and the Curtis Institute of Music, under Anthony Gigliotti, John DeLancie and Robert Levin, and holds degrees from both in performance and music education. As principal clarinetist, he has worked with such conductors and soloists as Eugene Ormandy, Claudio Abbado, Max Rudolf, Rudolf Serkin, Itzhak Pearlman, Mstislav Rostropovich, Riccardo Muti, Zubin Mehta and Istvan Kertesz, and has performed with such world famous groups as the French National Orchestra, Mainz Chamber Orchestra, and the Metropolitan Opera and Royal Ballet Touring Ensembles. He spent 10 years in the Far East as principal clarinetist of the Singapore Symphony and assistant principal clarinet of the Hongkong Philharmonic Orchestra, and was appointed as lecturer in clarinet at Chung Chi College of the Chinese University of Hongkong.
